Looking after your eyes
Jill Farrell Opticians utilises leading cutting-edge technologies.
This allows Jill to treat acute eye care emergencies, such as foreign body removal. We use an OCT scanning machine and a Retinal Camera – this provides an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Jill, was one of the first Opticians to acquire an OCT scanning machine. Having been training in the UK in retinal & ocular media analysis using the OCT. These machines can diagnose and monitor many conditions such as Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration.
By using cutting-edge diagnostic technology, Jill can pick up problems earlier, and get them seen immediately. This means better and more reassuring eye tests for you.
Jill ensures to keep her expertise up to date. Her most recent achievement is in ‘Acute Eye Care for Ireland’ (MECS OSCE). This allows Jill to offer the service for acute emergencies in eye care. This is where foreign bodies can be removed from a person’s eyes. Jill has advanced her research and knowledge in Retinal & Diabetic Retinopathy studies. She continues to take referrals for a Slit-lamp examination for Diabetics.

Why are eye tests so vital?
Our eyes are easy for us to neglect, and we typically think of them when something is wrong. A lot of eye conditions do not show any symptoms or signs in the early stages. Sometimes when we do notice a problem, it may be too late to reverse the damage done, and difficult to prevent future damage. Eye Tests are vital for all ages and not only tell us if you need new glasses or a change in your prescription but will check the health of your eyes. Having an eye test will not only tell us if you need new glasses or if there is a change in prescription, but it will also check the health of your eyes.
